Roger J. McClow joined the firm in 1981 and became Of Counsel in 2008. He graduated with distinction from University of Michigan in 1969. He received a Juris Doctor degree, magna cum laude, from Wayne State Law School in 1976. He has been a member of the Michigan State Bar since 1977. He is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Sixth, Fourth and Eighth Circuits. He has practiced in federal courts in Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, New York, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Virginia, Wisconsin, Missouri, New Jersey, Minnesota and Texas.

Roger is rated AV by Martindale Hubbell and is listed in Who’s Who in America and Who’s Who in American Law. He served as a Council Member on the State Bar Labor and Employment Law Section from 1992 through 1996. He is the author of Labor Law and Unemployment Compensation, 35 Wayne Law Review 769 (1989) and other scholarly articles.

Roger specializes in class action retiree health care litigation. He has successfully litigated and negotiated settlements in more than a dozen such class actions. He has extensive experience and expertise in health care and ERISA benefit issues. He represents hourly retirees and also represented public and private sector unions in contract negotiations and federal and state litigation. Roger has obtained excellent results in many trial and appeals courts on behalf of workers and retirees. In Retirement Heist, award-winning journalist Ellen Schultz described Roger’s tenacious efforts to protect TRW retiree benefits.

Roger has also represented many ERISA funds/plans, including those for the Sprinkler Fitters and the Plumbers and Pipefitters. Roger is a Trustee on the Middleton Works Hourly and Salaried Retirees Health Care Fund which is a VEBA from AK Steel.

Roger has been a frequent speaker on labor law and class action issues for the American Bar Association, Michigan Bar Association, the Institute of Continuing Legal Education, and the AFL-CIO Lawyer’s Coordinating Committee regional conferences.
